Body of Missing San Angelo Teen Recovered from Lake Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, TX — Georgetown police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the body of 18-year-old Kenley Bommarito of San Angelo has been recovered from Lake Georgetown after days of extensive search efforts, CBS Austin reported.

According to an update from the Georgetown Police Department, Bommarito was located by underwater sonar on Dec. 2. Police expressed condolences to his family and said the case remains an active investigation into the cause and manner of death.

Bommarito was last seen around 10 p.m. on Nov. 28 at a campsite in Sawyer Park near the lake. Authorities began searching over the weekend using canines, sonar-equipped boats, multiple dive teams, drone operations, thermal imaging from a helicopter, and trained volunteers from Texas Search and Rescue.

Police said earlier evidence indicated Bommarito had not left the lake area, prompting continued land and water searches until his body was found.

Because the investigation remains active, police are not releasing further details. Officials thanked the agencies, organizations, and volunteers who assisted throughout the search.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Georgetown Police Department at (512) 930-3510.
