Free STD Clinic to Open in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — A free STD clinic will be opening in San Angelo in January at the site of the old Planned Parenthood.

The Pregnancy Help Center of the Concho Valley is set to open its Sexual Health Clinic at 2010 Pecos Street. It is tentatively scheduled to open Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.

Executive Director Sandra Franke said the building was donated by Brandon Moore, and it was recently remodeled.

“It was originally built to be a clinic, so it was already set up for that,” Franke said.

STD testing and treatment is already being provided at the Pregnancy Help Center, 2525 Sherwood Way. However, with the other services being offered there — such as pregnancy testing and ultrasounds — the building has become increasingly crowded, Franke said.

The Pregnancy Help Center has offered its free services to the Concho Valley since 1991.

“We started with pregnancy, but we were seeing so many girls who really needed to get STD testing and treatment, but they couldn’t afford it, or they didn’t know where to go, or they were embarrassed, so we thought we just needed to add that to our services,” Franke said.

The organization is “committed to helping families in an unexpected pregnancy, those engaged in risky sexual behavior, and those harmed by abortion,” Franke said.

In addition to pregnancy testing, they offer parenting classes, baby clothes and maternity clothes, along with free diapers and baby wipes for those in need.

They do all of that with no government funding.

“We are funded by the people of San Angelo,” Franke said. “We rely primarily on the faith community, but not exclusively. … We had a grant from the San Angelo Health Foundation to do the remodel here, and we’ve had private grants for big projects. We have a couple fundraisers a year.

“We’re incredibly blessed. We have no debt. We have two buildings that are paid off. God has blessed this ministry so much.”
