ASU Choirs to Present Fall Festival Concert Oct. 9

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Angelo State University Choral Program will host its first concert of the fall season on Thursday, Oct. 9, in ASU's Elta Joyce Murphey Auditorium located inside the Mayer Administration Building at 2601 W. Ave. N.

Titled "Fall Festival of Choirs," the concert will begin at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It will feature performances by the ASU Chamber Singers, Glee Club, Treble Chorus and University Chorale, and they will be accompanied by Dr. Eun Mi Lee, staff collaborative pianist, and other guest collaborators. The musical program will include:

ASU Chamber Singers

  • "Fyer, fyer!" by Brian Sidders
  • "Abendlied" by Josef Rheinberger
  • The U.S. premiere of "Ave Maria" by Helen Ostafew
  • "It's You I Like" from "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" by Fred Rogers

ASU Glee Club

  • "Brothers, Sing On!" by Edvard Grieg
  • "Music of Life" by B.E. Boykin
  • "If There Is" by Dominick DiOrio

ASU Treble Chorus

  • "To Love Again" by Audrey Snyder
  • "I'm On My Way" - Traditional Spiritual

University Chorale

  • "O, Clap Your Hands" by R. Vaughan Williams
  • "Measure Me, Sky!" by Jonathan Reid
  • "Inkosi Namandla" - Traditional isiZulu

The 57-member University Chorale comprises students from academic departments across campus, and it includes the members of the other three smaller ensembles. The Chamber Singers are the preeminent choral ensemble. All the ensembles are directed by Dr. Eric Posada, ASU director of choral activities.
