San Angelo Officially Enacts New Fee Waivers for Flood Recovery

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo City Council on Tuesday approved a resolution waiving certain building permit fees for residents and businesses recovering from the July 4 flood.

The waiver applies to properties within a designated flood-impacted area and covers the following fees:

  • Building permit fees

  • Demolition fees

  • Miscellaneous permit fees

  • Electrical, plumbing, fuel/gas, and mechanical permit fees

The move aims to ease the financial burden on property owners repairing or replacing structures damaged by the disaster. According to the city, properties outside the designated area may also be considered for waivers on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the city manager.

The fee waiver is effective immediately and will remain in place for 180 days unless extended or terminated by the council. It formally replaces the mayor’s temporary order issued on July 21.

All regular planning, permitting, and inspection requirements remain in effect. Property owners must still comply with city codes, and violations are subject to standard enforcement.

Residents with questions about eligibility are encouraged to contact the City’s Permits and Inspections Division at 325-657-4210 or visit sanangelo.gov.
