Community Band Ends Summer Series Monday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - The San Angelo Community Band (SACB), under the direction of Dr. Constance Kelley of the Angelo State University music faculty, will wrap up its 2025 Summer Series with a performance on Monday, Aug. 4, at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church, 4522 College Hills Blvd.

Titled "Serenade for a Picket Fence," the fun and light-hearted concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the church's Life Center and is open and free to the public. The musical program will include:

  • "Fandango" by Carol Brittin Chambers
  • "Galop Festivo" by Randall D. Standridge
  • "Serenade for a Picket Fence" by Norman Leyden, featuring local musicians Caleb Lenard and Joshua Powell
  • "That Little Beast" by Peter Sciaino
  • "Pie in the Face Polka" by Henry Mancini, featuring the Clarinet Section
  • "Pirates Revenge" by Adrian B. Sims
  • "Blue Moon" by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, featuring ASU music student Andrea Thompson

Celebrating its 36th year, the SACB features more than 50 local and area musicians, including ASU students, faculty and staff, local and area public school music teachers, and community members. For more details or to join the SACB, visit sanangelocommunityband.org.
