SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo’s second public splash pad will officially open at Kirby Park on Tuesday, July 22, at 10 a.m., the City of San Angelo announced.
The splash pad, located at 1402 Edmund Boulevard, marks the completion of the second of two new water play areas funded entirely through private donations and community fundraising led by All-Tex Irrigation. Nearly $875,000 was raised for the projects, with the majority coming from private donations and community fundraising. That does not include the more than $150,000 in in-kind contributions of labor and materials from local partners. Art in Uncommon Places contributed custom benches to enhance the splash pad environment.
The Kirby Park splash pad will operate daily from noon to 8 p.m. for the 2025 summer season. Unidad Park’s splash pad, the city’s first, will remain open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Each splash pad uses a recirculating water system, storing over 1,500 gallons underground and treated through a four-step filtration and UV process. The system operates on-demand to conserve water.
Attendees to the grand opening should be aware of ongoing construction reducing traffic on 29th Street and Edmund Boulevard to one lane in each direction. Attendees are encouraged to use caution when entering or exiting the park driveway. Ample parking remains available.
Splash pad rules include wearing proper swim attire, supervising children at all times, and prohibiting items such as bicycles, pets, and glass containers. Splash pads may close without notice in bad weather.
"The City extends its appreciation to All-Tex Irrigation, the San Angelo Area Foundation, Art in Uncommon Places, and the many generous donors who made this community amenity possible," information stated.
