SAN ANGELO, TX — Walmart’s store on West 29th Street in San Angelo has launched disaster relief efforts for residents affected by recent flooding, offering free meals, laundry services and showers beginning Wednesday, July 9.
According to announcements posted on social media, the resource hub at Walmart Store #1249, located at 610 W. 29th St., will feature Tide Loads of Hope laundry trucks and shower facilities operated in partnership with Matthew 25: Ministries, Procter & Gamble and Walmart. The services will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or until capacity is reached.
A Walmart disaster relief kitchen will also serve hot meals from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Additionally, the retailer has committed up to $500,000 to support relief efforts across the Texas Hill Country, including a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $250,000 in customer and member donations made online or in stores through the Walmart and Salvation Army match campaign.
Walmart is working alongside organizations such as the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army to distribute essential supplies, including food and water, to local shelters.
