San Angelo Urges Residents to Sort Storm Debris for FEMA Reimbursement

SAN ANGELO, TX — City officials are asking residents in flood-affected areas to properly separate storm debris for curbside pickup to qualify for FEMA reimbursement.

Household trash and perishables should be bagged and placed at the curb, with collection beginning Monday, July 7, and continuing on a regular basis, according to the City of San Angelo.

Non-household debris, such as furniture and construction materials, must be separated and properly placed at the curb. Pickup is expected to begin in about a week by a FEMA-compliant debris management contractor. City officials stated that unsorted debris will not be collected.

At this time, there are no plans for a centralized debris collection site, and all debris must be sorted and placed at the curb. The city landfill remains closed to the public until further notice.

Residents are also encouraged to report property damage to the Texas Division of Emergency Management, selecting the July 2 event or general incident damages. You can find that website HERE.
