Benefit for Deputy Being Held at Tom Green County Sheriff's Office

SAN ANGELO, TX — A benefit for a local deputy is going on at the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.

A burger plate benefit for Deputy Orlando Cortez is being held Friday at the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, 222 W. Harris Ave., to help with medical expenses.

Constable Thomas Bingham said, “He (Deputy Cortez) ended up in the hospital with double bypass surgery, and we’re raising money for him to cover expenses.”

Burger plates are available until 1 p.m. or until they are sold out. The plates include a burger, beans, chips, desserts, and a drink for $15.

“I wish him a speedy recovery,” Bingham said, “I miss him, and he helps me with a tremendous workload so I can’t wait for him to come back.”
