No Injuries Reported After Apartment Fire on Sherwood Way

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — A fire broke out at the Aura Square Apartments at 3902 Sherwood Way on Wednesday afternoon, prompting the evacuation of residents and a large response from emergency crews.

According to Deputy Fire Marshal Eric Martinson, the San Angelo Fire Department responded at about 4:30 p.m. to a structure fire at Apartment 120. Eight SAFD units were dispatched, and San Angelo Police assisted with evacuations of nearby units, traffic control, and crowd management.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by 5 p.m., at which point they were conducting mop-up operations and checking for lingering heat sources. The fire was said to be contained to a single unit, and no injuries were reported.

Roughly 20 to 30 residents evacuated the building as a precaution. The fire’s cause remains under investigation.

San Angelo Police temporarily reduced westbound traffic on Sherwood Way to a single lane while firefighters worked the scene.
