SAN ANGELO, TX — Flames erupted inside and out a window of one unit of the Aura Square Apartments at 3902 Sherwood Way on Wednesday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the San Angelo Fire Department.
The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m., and by 5 p.m., firefighters were seen conducting mop-up operations and checking for lingering heat sources. The blaze appeared to be contained to a single unit, but as a precaution, 20 to 30 residents evacuated the complex.
Emergency response included four fire engines, a rescue truck, and one ambulance. Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office remained on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
San Angelo police reduced westbound traffic on Sherwood Way to a single lane while crews worked the scene.
