San Angelo ISD Trustees Sworn In, Kingman Re-Elected Board President

SAN ANGELO, TX — Four trustees were officially sworn in Monday evening during the San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees meeting, marking the start of a new term following the May 3 election. The board also voted unanimously to retain its current slate of officers, including Dr. Taylor Kingman as president.

The meeting began with a formal acknowledgment of outgoing board member Lupita Arroyo, who served District 2 for the past four years. Kingman thanked her for her dedication, calling her a “selfless" and "caring” trustee who “made sure that lots of kids who will never know her name were taken care of.”

Judge Gonzalo Rios, an alumnus of both SAISD and Angelo State University, administered the oath of office and statements of elected officers to the newly elected trustees representing Single Member Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4. Those trustees are Bill Dendle, Karla Cardenas, Dr. Taylor Kingman, and Ami Mizell-Flint.

“Congratulations, ladies and gentlemen,” said Rios after completing the group ceremony.

Shortly after the oath was administered, the board moved to elect officers for the 2025–2026 term. Dr. Kyle Mills motioned to keep the current leadership team in place, citing the need for stability following the recent bond election.

“As is,” the motion reaffirmed Dr. Kingman as president, Ami Mizell-Flint as vice president, George Gallegos as secretary, and Bill Dendle as treasurer. The motion passed unanimously, 7–0.
