ASU Wind Ensemble to Present Free ‘Boom!’ Concert Downtown

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Angelo State University Wind Ensemble will present its second concert of the spring season on Sunday, March 30, in the Murphey Performance Hall at 72 W. College Ave. in downtown San Angelo.

Titled "Boom!," the concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The family-friendly musical program will include:

  • "Festive Overture" by Dmitri Shostakovich
  • "Boom Goes the Dynamite" by Paul Dooley
  • "After the Darkness" by William Owens
  • "Kaleidoscope Eyes" by Katahj Copley
  • "Fuzion" by Carol Brittin Chambers
  • "Armenian Dances, Part 1" by Alfred Reed

The ASU Wind Ensemble features about 50 student musicians performing on various woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. It is directed by Dr. Jonathan Alvis, ASU director of bands.
