Tornado Warning Issued for Tom Green County

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a tornado warning for southeastern Tom Green County, south-central Runnels County, western Concho County, and southeastern Irion County in west-central Texas.

The warning remains in effect until 3:15 a.m. CST.

At 2:28 a.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was detected near Knickerbocker, moving east at 50 mph. The storm is also producing quarter-size hail.

  • Hazard: Tornado and damaging hail.
  • Source: Radar-indicated rotation.
  • Impact: Flying debris could be dangerous to those without shelter. Mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed. Roofs, windows, and vehicles may sustain damage, and tree damage is likely.

The storm is expected to impact several communities, including:

  • Around 2:35 a.m.: Twin Buttes Reservoir, Christoval, and San Angelo
  • Around 2:40 a.m.: Lake Nasworthy
  • Around 2:45 a.m.: Wall
  • Around 2:55 a.m.: Vancourt
  • Around 3:00 a.m.: Eola

Residents are urged to take cover. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building or a basement. Avoid Windows.
