SAN ANGELO, TX - The Angelo State University Wind Ensemble will present its first concert of the spring season on Sunday, Feb. 23, in the Murphey Performance Hall at 72 W. College Ave. in downtown San Angelo.
Titled "American Masterworks," the concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The musical program will include:
- "American Overture" by Joseph Wilcox Jenkins
- "Tuber Suite" by Andrew Perkins
- "Concord" by Clare Grundman
- "Symphonic Songs" by Robert Russell Bennett
- "Chester" by William Schuman
- "Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Philip Sousa
The ASU Wind Ensemble features about 50 student musicians performing on various woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. It is directed by Dr. Jonathan Alvis, ASU director of bands.
