SAN ANGELO, TX - Angelo State University's College of Science and Engineering (COSE) will host its semi-annual STEM Lab Night event on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 5-7 p.m., followed by a free astronomy show at 7 p.m. in the ASU Planetarium.
Activities will take place in the ASU Vincent Building at 2333 Vanderventer Ave. and the adjacent Hunter Strain Engineering Labs. The Planetarium is also located in the Vincent Building.
STEM Lab Night is a free community event designed to inspire students of all ages and their families to get involved in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects and activities.
Participants will meet and interact with COSE students, faculty and staff as they engage in fun activities and experiments, including:
- Animal adaptations
- Identifying minerals, rocks and fossils
- Logic puzzles, block puzzles and origami
- Water filtration
- Paper rocket launches
- Virtual Reality (VR) headsets for ages 10+
- Displays of animal and plant specimens
At 7 p.m., all attendees are invited to a free viewing of "Oasis in Space" in the ASU Planetarium.
Originated in 2018, STEM Lab Night is offered once during each fall and spring semester. It has also expanded to include all the COSE academic departments, other departments across campus and community partners.
