Incentives Offered to Rescue Agencies as San Angelo Animal Shelter Reaches Capacity

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Animal Shelter is at full capacity, and to prevent euthanasia, Concho Valley PAWS is working with Best Friends Animal Society to offer financial incentives to rescue organizations that transfer shelter dogs for adoption.

Best Friends Animal Society is providing a $150 stipend per dog and $300 per litter of puppies to 501(c)(3) organizations that take in animals from the San Angelo shelter. The initiative, aimed at offsetting the costs of lifesaving efforts, is available until Feb. 28, 2025, or until 40 dogs are transferred. Participating rescues must provide documentation of their nonprofit status.

Meanwhile, Concho Valley PAWS has issued a “CODE RED” alert, warning that six dogs remain at risk of euthanasia if not adopted or fostered by 4 p.m. today.

Adoptions for these dogs are free and include spay/neuter procedures, vaccines, and microchips.

Anyone interested in fostering or adopting can visit the shelter at 3134 N. U.S. Highway 67 or contact Concho Valley PAWS at [email protected].
