SAN ANGELO, TX – As part of an annual effort to bring holiday cheer to cancer patients, Spherion in San Angelo collected items for care packages at its office through Saturday, Dec. 14.
The effort was led by Spherion Vice President of Operations Veronica Madrigal as a way to pass on the love shown to her daughter Krystal, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010, during the family’s extended stays in the hospital.
“Our daughter was diagnosed with leukemia on May 19, 2010, and we’ll never forget the outpouring of love that we received as she underwent chemotherapy at Methodist Hospital,” said Madrigal. “Although Krystal has been cancer-free for 14 years, it is still incredibly important to us to be a part of creating meaningful moments for other families who may be spending their holidays in the hospital like we were.”
For the 13th year, the Madrigals planned to donate 50 blessing bags to the 50 adult cancer patient rooms on the oncology floor of Methodist Hospital.
“Gandy Ink has proudly supported the blessing bags initiative for Methodist Hospital since its inception,” said Rosie Padilla, a human resources manager for Gandy Ink, who has worked closely with Spherion for more than 25 years. “I have a personal connection to the oncology floor, as they assisted my mother during her battles with leukemia on two separate occasions. I am happy to share that she has now been cancer-free for 13 years! While spending the holidays in a hospital is not ideal, we hope that these small care packages can brighten someone's day as they navigate their recovery journey.”
Spherion is located at 3467 Knickerbocker Road.
