SAN ANGELO, TX – Drivers in the San Angelo area are paying the most for regular unleaded gas in Texas this week, with an average price of $2.72 per gallon, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.
This compares to the statewide average of $2.63 per gallon, which is two cents higher than last week but eight cents lower than this time last year.
Lubbock drivers are seeing the lowest prices in the state at $2.36 per gallon. Nationally, the average gas price stands at $3.03, down three cents from last week and 19 cents from a year ago.
“Despite increases in some areas, gas price averages in most parts of the state are at or near their lowest levels of 2024,” said Doug Shupe, AAA Texas spokesperson. “Texas is now the third least expensive state for gasoline behind Oklahoma, with a $2.52 statewide average and Mississippi, where the statewide average price is $2.62.”
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline supply and demand data is mixed throughout the U.S. Last week’s busy Thanksgiving travel period may have also played a role in increasing some Texas gas prices.
As of December 5, San Angelo’s $2.72 per gallon average reflects a five-cent increase from last week.

The San Angelo Gas mafia is at it again. Think everyone should ban stripes gas for two weeks and see what happens.
