Animal Shelter Exceeds Capacity, Adopters Needed to Prevent Euthanasia

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Animal Shelter is nearing its capacity with 175 dogs, prompting an urgent plea for adopters and fosters.

Nine dogs are at risk of euthanasia if not placed by 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, according to city officials.

Free adoptions are being offered for these at-risk dogs, which include vaccinations, microchipping, and spay/neuter services. Potential adopters can visit the shelter, located at 3134 N. US Highway 67, between noon and 6 p.m.

The shelter must house no more than 180 dogs to comply with regulations. Concho Valley PAWS, a local animal advocacy organization, is facilitating and promoting the adoption of shelter pets.
