‘Silent Night’ Takes Center Stage at Angelo State’s Holiday Concert

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Angelo State University Chorale will host its annual holiday concert on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 32 N. Irving St. in downtown San Angelo.

Titled "Silent Night," the concert is free and open to the public. It will feature performances by the ASU Chorale, Chamber Singers, Glee Club, Treble Chorus and Angelo Voices, as well as several audience sing-alongs. The choirs will be joined by Dr. Eun Mi Lee, staff accompanist, on piano, as well as several ASU student accompanists on various instruments. The musical program will include:

ASU Chorale

  • "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" by Timothy Kile
  • "Gloria Fanfare" by Jay Althouse
  • "Silent Night" by Granz Gruber

ASU Chamber Singers

  • "Morgen" by Richard Strauss
  • "O Little Town of Bethlehem" arranged by David Conte

Audience Sing-Along

  • "The First Noel" traditional English carol

ASU Glee Club

  • "Star of Wonder" by Terre Roche
  • "A Yuletide Sea Shanty" by Steve Parsons

ASU Treble Chorus

  • "Winter Lullaby" by Pinkzebra
  • "The Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth" arranged by Jay Althouse

Audience Sing-Along

  • "O Come, All Ye Faithful" traditional carol

Angelo Voices

  • "Getting in the Mood (for Christmas)" arranged by Roger Emerson

ASU Chorale

  • "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks" by Craig Courtney
  • "South African Gloria" by William Bradley Roberts
  • "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" arranged by Mark Hayes

Audience Sing-Along Finale

  • "Joy to the World" by George Frideric Handel

The 47-member ASU Chorale comprises students from academic departments across campus, and it includes the members of the other four smaller ensembles. The ASU Chamber Singers serve as the leadership core of the Chorale. All the ensembles are directed by Dr. Eric Posada, ASU director of choral activities.
