SAN ANGELO, TX – Angelo State University officially kicked off the holiday season tonight with the lighting of its 26-foot Christmas tree in front of the ASU Mayer Museum.

Holiday activities began at 4 p.m., with the tree lighting taking place at sundown, around 6:30 p.m. Attendees enjoyed a Holiday Pops Concert by the ASU Symphony Orchestra, Chorale, and Mariachi Los Pastores, as well as synthetic ice skating, inflatable bounce houses, and crafting stations for Christmas ornaments, greeting cards, and cookies.

Photo opportunities with Santa Claus and ASU mascots Roscoe, Bella, and Dominic were a highlight for families. December’s “Night at the Museum” activities inside the Mayer Museum were also active.

The Christmas tree will remain on display throughout the holiday season.

As part of ASU’s GivingTuesday efforts, the university is collecting donations for the Ram Family Student Scholarship, with a goal of securing at least 200 contributions. The ASU Foundation pledged to match the first $5,000 in donations. Contributions can still be made at angelo.edu/givingtuesday.
