SAN ANGELO, TX - San Angelo drivers are seeing a notable decrease in gas prices this week, with regular unleaded fuel averaging $2.65 per gallon—down 18 cents from last week—according to AAA Texas.
This reduction contrasts with the statewide average, which remains stable at $2.69 per gallon. Across Texas, prices are down 10 cents compared to this time last year.
The statewide stability in gas prices comes as AAA monitors the development of Tropical Storm Sara in the Caribbean, though the storm is not currently affecting Gulf oil operations. Nationally, gas averages $3.08 per gallon, down three cents from last week.
According to this week’s report from the Energy Information Administration, gasoline demand has decreased, while supply levels have risen. Additionally, crude oil prices have softened, with West Texas Intermediate crude trading at $68 per barrel, down $1 from last week. Crude oil remains the primary ingredient in gasoline production.
“Our data shows that Texans are seeing steady and relatively low gas prices, with the state average at $2.69 per gallon, which is even lower than this time last year,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesperson. “While we’re monitoring tropical activity as it develops in the Caribbean, there’s currently no threat to Gulf oil and gas operations. Additionally, with demand for gasoline dropping and supply on the rise, along with softer crude oil prices, we expect Texans to benefit from these stable conditions at the pump for now.”
