SAN ANGELO, TX - The Angelo State University Symphony Orchestra and a host of special guests will present a joint concert to celebrate the Symphony Orchestra's 10th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Murphey Performance Hall at 72 W. College Ave. downtown.
The ASU Symphony Orchestra will perform the monumental work, "Creation," by acclaimed composer Dan Forrest - a 72-minute celebration of the "wonders and beauties of the world that draws on ancient texts to offer the audience a profound and uplifting experience."
Forrest will also be a special guest for the concert, which is open and free to the public.
The concert will also showcase the combined vocal talents of the ASU Chorale, San Angelo Chorus, Howard College Choir and Central High School Choir, as well as guest soloists Jessica Posada (soprano) and David Grogan (baritone). A Handbell Choir led by Dr. Louellen Meyer will add yet another unique layer of sound to the performance.
The ASU Symphony Orchestra includes about 50 student musicians and is directed by Dr. Fagner Magrinelli Rocha, associate professor of music. The choirs will be under the direction of Dr. Eric Posada, ASU director of choral activities; Dr. Mark Watt, Howard College choir director; and Landon Gilmore, CHS director of choirs.
