San Angelo Airport Director Who Secured Over $20 Million in Grants Heads to Corpus Christi

SAN ANGELO, TX — Jeremy Valgardson, Director of the San Angelo Regional Airport, will leave his position at the end of the month to serve as the Assistant Airport Director at Corpus Christi International Airport.

Valgardson announced his departure during public comments at the San Angelo City Council meeting this morning.

Valgardson, who has been with the City of San Angelo since January 2019, expressed gratitude for the city’s support in fostering the airport’s growth. He thanked the mayor and the council for their efforts in advancing the airport’s economic development.

“I think we have a lot of momentum,” Valgardson said. “We’ve been failed a little bit by the federal government on the mod for the South taxi lane and also with our approach control, but we’re working with them, and we got a lot of momentum in the right direction.”

During his tenure, Valgardson was instrumental in several major projects, including the ASU Flight Training Program, improvements to the Skyline hangar, and upgrades to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection hangar. Under his leadership, the airport secured more than $20 million in grant funding for improvements.

Valgardson noted his personal connection to San Angelo and expressed his appreciation for the community where he raised his three children. “It’s been a great place to live,” he said, as applause followed his comments.

The City of San Angelo acknowledged Valgardson’s contributions in a social media post, stating, “Jeremy’s contributions to the community span beyond those aforementioned, and we are grateful for all he has accomplished here. We wish you well in Corpus!”
