Police Determine No Credible Threat to Lake View High School After Social Media Post

SAN ANGELO, TX — A social media post that was reportedly threatening to Lake View High School was investigated Thursday by the San Angelo Police Department.

It was determined the threat wasn't credible.

The social media post was traced to Lithia, Georgia, and SAPD has been in contact with law enforcement in Lithia, according to the San Angelo ISD communications department.

It is unclear what was said or shown in the social media post

Lake View principal Zachary Ramirez addressed the incident in a message to Lake View parents.

"This morning, San Angelo ISD and Lake View HS administrators received a report of a social media screenshot containing pictures that are creating concern for families. SAPD is investigating the post and there is no evidence that the post is directed or related to Lake View HS or any San Angelo ISD campus at this time," the message said.

A later message stated:

"Although there is no threat to our campus, we will always fully investigate and pursue any report of a threat to the safety of our students and staff. The safety of our campus is our highest priority, and your partnership is important. Please talk to your student about the importance of telling an adult (or using our anonymous reporting system StayALERT) if they see or hear something out of the ordinary. We are committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for every member of our Lake View tribe, and keeping you informed of events happening on your child's campus."
