SAN ANGELO, TX — Vitalant is encouraging donors to give blood this summer with a car giveaway promotion.
From July 8 to July 27, 2024, all donors who give blood, platelets, or plasma will automatically be entered for a chance to receive up to $30,000 toward the purchase of a car.
The giveaway is open to U.S. residents aged 18 and older, with the grand prize winner being selected on or around August 1, 2024.
The winner will be notified via phone and email.
The prize, valued at up to $30,000, will be paid directly to the winner’s chosen dealership.
If the selected vehicle costs more than $30,000, the additional expenses, including taxes and fees, will be the winner’s responsibility.
According to information from Vitalant, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. This could be a little girl in the ICU or a mother with Stage 3 leukemia.
“If you’re worried about needles, don’t be—most blood donors compare the experience to a mild, split-second pinch,” information stated. “The entire process is very safe and very fast, and you will feel amazing knowing you potentially saved up to three people.”
Blood donors need to be at least 16 years old, and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds in healthy condition. Sixteen to 22-year-old donors will need to meet additional height and weight requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must present a minor donor permit signed by a parent or guardian.
Additionally, blood donors at the Shannon South Blood Drive on July 19 at 3501 Knickerbocker Rd, Williams Family Center Entrance, will receive two Cinemark movie passes, a Chick-fil-A coupon, and entry to the car giveaway.
This blood drive will happen from 8 a.m. to noon and again from 1 to 6 p.m.
