San Angelo Organizations Helping With Hurricane Relief

SAN ANGELO, TX — With Hurricane Beryl causing chaos in Houston and other areas around the Texas coast, organizations in San Angelo are rallying to help.

The Salvation Army reported on its San Angelo Facebook page that its incident command team would be based in southwest Houston, with a second operation in nearby Wharton.

More than 2 million people were without power Monday, according to reports, after Beryl made its landfall earlier in the day. Flooding and tornadoes were also a significant concern.

Feeding operations utilizing 10 mobile kitchens are expected to begin helping affected communities on Tuesday.

A local restaurant is also helping with the effort. Ashlee Long, a manager at Firehouse Subs, is accepting donations to take to Houston on Wednesday night.

Long posted on Facebook that she's loading up a trailer for the trip.

The drop-off location is Firehouse Subs, 5789 Sherwood Way. The trailer will be parked until tomorrow night at 9 p.m. For more information, contact Long at 325-939-4806.
