City Council Approves Design for Lake Nasworthy Boat Ramps and Kayak Launches

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo City Council approved the design of two boat ramps and three kayak launch areas at Lake Nasworthy, totaling $249,851.

The approval follows the city’s successful application for a grant through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Boating Access Grant Program on April 4, 2023. The grant, awarded for design services under the Boat Ramps Phase II project, will fund the design of full boat ramps at Fisherman's Road and Red Bluff Circle, and non-motorized launches at two areas in Pecan Creek and Rock Slough Park.

The grant is a reimbursement grant amounting to $187,500, requiring a 25% match of $62,500. These projects form part of the Lake Nasworthy Improvement Projects, which were approved by voter referendum in November 2019 and funded by the Lake Nasworthy Trust Funds.

Freese & Nichols, Inc. submitted a scope and fee for the design services.

The site civil design will cover demolition, construction of a boat ramp, courtesy docks, kayak launch locations, parking lots, sidewalks, one restroom, one fish cleaning station, and signage.

The construction of the designed ramps will be funded through a separate application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife.
