City Offices to Close for Independence Day; Schedule of Events Announced

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – In observance of Independence Day, city offices in San Angelo will be closed on Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5.

Normal operations will resume on Monday, July 8, but despite the holiday closures, garbage collection and landfill operations will proceed without interruption.

Residents are reminded that shooting or possessing fireworks within city limits or within 5,000 feet of them is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $2,000. To report illegal fireworks, contact the non-emergency dispatch at 325-657-4315. Note that Tom Green County is currently under a burn ban.

The Star-Spangled Banner Concert & Fireworks will be held on July 3 at the River Stage, located at 16 E. Avenue A. The event runs from noon to 11:30 p.m., featuring live local entertainment throughout the day, with the fireworks show starting in the evening. This event is sponsored by Downtown San Angelo, Inc., and San Angelo Live!

On July 4, the Lake Nasworthy fireworks display will commence around 9 p.m., launched from across Goodfellow Recreation Camp. Spectators can enjoy the show from various vantage points around the lake, accompanied by a curated soundtrack on 94.7 KIXY FM. Heavy traffic is expected in the area. This privately funded event is organized by the Lake Nasworthy HOA.

Day passes for Middle Concho and Spring Creek parks at Lake Nasworthy are available for $5 per vehicle at entry gates. Season passes, valid through Labor Day weekend, are $20 for seniors (65+) and those with disabilities, and $30 for the general public. Camping permits are $10 per campsite per night, purchasable at entry gates and Spring Creek Marina.

Fort Concho will feature hourly artillery firing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Barracks 1. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Sarah Ross at 325-657-4443.

On July 3, the Municipal Pool will reopen from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. for guests to view the River Stage fireworks. This event is sold out. On July 4, the pool will operate during normal hours from noon to 6 p.m. Admission is $5 for ages 3-64, free for children 2 and under, and $3 for seniors 65 and older.

City offices closed on July 4-5 include:

  • City Hall and the Community Development Building
  • City Hall Annex
  • Fairmount Cemetery business offices
  • Municipal Court
  • Parks and Recreation offices
  • San Angelo-Tom Green County Health Department
  • Southside and Carl Ray Johnson recreation centers
  • Station 618 and Santa Fe Crossing senior centers
  • WIC (Women, Infants & Children) offices
