SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Clubhouse announced its participation recently in the National Clubhouse Week of Action from May 28 through May 31, 2024. This week-long event is dedicated to raising awareness about the critical role Clubhouses play in supporting individuals living with mental illness and promoting mental health wellness in our community.
Each Clubhouse Week of Action day will feature unique events and activities designed to engage, educate, and inspire. San Angelo Clubhouse invites all leaders, community members, and media representatives to join us in celebrating and advocating for mental health support.
Remaining Event Schedule:
Thursday, May 30: Empowering Community
Time: 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Details: In this week's main event, Representative Drew Darby will speak about Clubhouses and the importance of mental health in our community. Several San Angelo Clubhouse members will discuss how the Clubhouse model has changed their lives.

Friday, May 31: Steps to an Awareness event
- Time: 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
- Details: Conclude the week with a fun and festive picnic on the Courthouse lawn, followed by a walk around the Courthouse, holding mental health awareness signs. We’ll showcase the need to bring awareness to mental health while celebrating our Clubhouse members' achievements and our community's support.

Friday, May 31: Coffee with Congressman Pfluger
- Time: 3:30-4:30
- Details: Congressman Austin Pfluger will visit the Clubhouse for a tour, a cup of coffee, and a discussion about the importance of mental health and having a Clubhouse in our community.

San Angelo Clubhouse is one of 354 Clubhouses around the world. A community-based approach to supporting adults living with mental illness, the Clubhouse Model operates on the principles of mutual support, respect, and empowerment. Clubhouses provide a safe, inclusive environment where members can engage in meaningful work, educational opportunities, and social activities. The Clubhouse model promotes recovery, reduces social isolation, and helps individuals achieve their personal and professional goals by providing a supportive, community-centered environment.
