SAN ANGELO, TX — Local rapper Lil’ Marc is set to open for big-time Texas rapper “That Mexican OT” at The River Stage on Friday, July 5.
The event will also feature performances by Maxo Kream, DRODi, Paul Wall, and Bizzy Bone.
Lil’ Marc, whose real name is Marc Duarte, has been rapping for just over a year and has already released 25 to 30 tracks.
Inspired by Texas rap legends such as "Slim Thug," Paul Wall, and Mike Jones, Lil’ Marc has been gaining traction in the local music scene with performances at venues like Koronnaz, where he opened for "Chalie Boy" and "Kirko Bangz."
“The crowd was showing a lot of love,” the 18-year-old said about his previous performances.
Lil’ Marc described his music as “real” and “authentic,” emphasizing that he doesn’t like to act in his lyrics. Born and raised in San Angelo, he balances his music career with working alongside his father in framing houses.
“Every day after work, just make some music,” he said. “Every day on the weekend I make some more music.”
Looking ahead, Lil’ Marc envisions taking his talents to larger cities like Dallas or Houston within the next five years. His advice to aspiring artists is simple: “Just be yourself, don’t try to be like the next man.”
Lil’ Marc connected with the organizers of the July 5th event through the help of his father.
“I saw a post about it and thought it would be a fun show to do,” he said. “My dad went out of his way to get in touch with the right people and ended up getting my way into the show.”
This performance will be Lil’ Marc’s biggest show to date, he said.
Tickets for the event at the Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial River Stage, 16 E Avenue A, are available now.
That Mexican OT, who boasts 6.7 million listeners on Spotify, will headline the show alongside other Texas-based rappers with massive followings.
