San Angelo Community Removes 2.5 Tons of Trash

SAN ANGELO, TX — Over 314 volunteers across San Angelo came together for the "Don’t Mess With Texas Trash-off," successfully removing 2.5 tons of trash from the city.

The event, organized by Keep San Angelo Beautiful (KSAB), saw an 80 percent increase in participation from the previous year, doubling the trash collected, volunteer hours contributed, and overall value to the community.

The volunteers dedicated 1,047 hours to the clean-up, which cost $33,295. The teams collected 204 bags of trash, including tires and other debris.

The event organizers have already set their sights on future clean-up efforts, announcing the Fall Sweep scheduled for October 12th.

In addition, the community is encouraged to contribute to other upcoming initiatives, such as San Angelo Gives on May 7th and the Household Hazardous Waste Event on June 15th, where volunteers are needed.

Residents are also asked to donate any Solar Eclipse glasses at BRI Recycling Solutions for Astronomers without Borders, aiding in their reuse for the Annular Solar Eclipse in Argentina and Chile this October.
