San Angelo City Council Approves Lease Increase for Concho Boat Club

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo City Council has approved an increase in the lease amount for the Concho Boat Club.

This decision comes as the club proposes nearly $500,000 in renovations to replace the existing crappie house with a new, larger facility on the banks of Lake Nasworthy, located on the southwest side of Veterans Memorial Bridge.

According to information from the city, the boat club has requested a 25-year lease to accommodate the anticipated lifespan of the new structure, doubling the size of the current crappie house built in the 1970s.

The revised lease not only extends the term but also sets the groundwork for annual adjustments based on inflation, with the proposed increase from $363 to $400 annually. The boat house's annual property taxes are about $427.

The new lease would allow the city to increase the rent annually, likely based on the Consumer Product Index inflation calculator.

The Concho Boat Club plans to remove the nearly 50-year-old crappie house to make way for a facility that includes 28 fishing stalls.

The club also covers the annual maintenance cost of $2,400, utilities amounting to $720, and maintains required insurance at approximately $1,251 yearly, alongside property taxes on the boathouse.
