Oakes Street Bridge Opens Quietly Friday Morning

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Oakes Street Bridge repair has been completed and the downtown San Angelo bridge opened quietly in the early morning hours Friday.

The repair initiative began on June 2, 2023, and led to the closure of the Oakes St. Bridge from Concho Ave. to Allen St. in downtown San Angelo.

The Texas Department of Transportation covered 90 percent of the overall project cost. The City of San Angelo matched the remaining 10 percent.

The City of San Angelo owns the Oakes Street Bridge, but the repair project was being executed in coordination with the TxDOT Bridge Division.

Key milestones achieved include concluding all concrete repairs and expansion joint work.
