San Angelo Family Needs Help With Funds For Liver Transplant

SAN ANGELO, TX - Emily Smith, a 24-year-old resident of San Angelo, is facing a critical health situation as she battles stage four liver failure.

Under the care of Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant in San Antonio, tests and scans indicated that Smith is currently suffering from stage four liver failure. At the same time, the rest of her body is "extremely healthy."

Currently, she is awaiting approval from insurance and eligibility for the transplant. If she does get approved for the transplant, the hospital will need $300,000 before the surgery can be performed.

Smith will need to have the surgery performed within the next month "to live a happy and normal life again."

"Emily means the world to us all, and we’re willing to do whatever it takes for family," information from the GoFundMe states. "Even if you are unable to donate anything, sharing this will mean just as much."
