SAN ANGELO, TX - A surprising discovery emerged from Kids Kingdom Park on the Concho River in San Angelo as a time capsule dating back to 2002 was unearthed recently.
A man whose son stumbled upon the capsule while exploring the area shared the find with San Angelo LIVE!
"My son found a cave," the father stated. "He climbed down in there, and that’s when he found it."
The timing of the discovery is intriguing as Kids Kingdom Park, a local landmark, was constructed in 2003, just a year after the time capsule was buried.
Among the items retrieved from the capsule were artifacts like a copy of the local newspaper.
Additionally, coupons to Walgreens provided a snapshot of prices from that era, alongside Barbie dolls.
One item of particular note was a photograph depicting a young girl, identified as Alexis Wilson, with a date inscribed on the back: 10-22-99, suggesting it may be a birthdate.
