Angry Cactus Guy to Cook a Meal for the Homeless Camp

SAN ANGELO, TX — Local chef and the founder/owner of the Angry Cactus, Tim Condon, has an interest in the San Angelo homelessness issue and the challenges that come with it. So, he volunteered to fund a community cookout with the homeless at their camp off N. Bryant and 14th St. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 2 p.m.. to 4 p.m.

We will be there too. We will feature Condon’s effort to learn about the homeless situation through a shared meal that will be the first of what Condon calls "Community Cooking with Our Neighbors." The meal will feed everyone from a flat-top grill in the heart of the camp.

Condon said his meal is a small way to "bridge the gap between the homeless community and the regular San Angelo community" by “breaking bread” together. Condon will grill chicken and beef fajitas and provide soft drink options, water, and beer. Condon surveyed the homeless residents in the camp on Thursday during his first visit to learn their meal preferences.

“My thing is, I like to get to know people through food. I mean, we all eat. Everything I do is through food, honestly. I think you can truly get to know a person by learning what type of food they prefer, the food they grew up eating, their favorite meal, and what food they would choose for their last meal.”

Condon said that sharing a meal with someone can be a very intimate experience that has the power to break down barriers, create interpersonal connections, and allow both parties to focus on their similarities rather than differences. He continued,

“I don't care if you live in a castle or a cardboard box, we all deal with the same kind of suffering and are here having human experiences together. Why not share those personal experiences?”

The "Community Cooking with Our Neighbors" happens on Saturday at 2 p.m.

You, friend, lack decorum—unlike BuckFoeJiden who is the kind of gentleman that takes care of your mother out there, wipes her chin and kisses her forehead after she's paid for her medicine!

Stop supporting tent city, every person they have interviewed so far has been a heroin addict that has robbed and attacked people across san Angelo, most people don't know that a large portion of the fentynal is coming from the great residents of tent city, or that the so called leader has been beating and raping women, or that they have been kidnapping women and selling them as sex slaves to people from midland, or that they torture anyone that tries to get them to stop, the entire place should be burned down, not all people that end up there are bad but the ones who stay definitely are the worst of the worst.
