The driver of the northbound vehicle, 26-year-old Cameron Scott Johnson from Snyder Texas, tried to avoid the crash by steering left toward the Southbound lane, away from Boynton.

Unfortunately, Boynton also decided to take evasive action and tried to steer back to the southbound lane and struck Johnson head-on, causing his vehicle to rapidly catch fire, killing him.

Both Johnson and a passenger in his vehicle, 30-year-old Stephan Jaron Gunderson were transported to Cogdell Memorial with incapacitating injuries but remain in stable condition.
