SAN ANGELO, TX - To address the pressing issue of homelessness, the Concho Valley Homeless Planning Coalition has announced the upcoming Point-in-Time (PIT) Count scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2024, to continue to address homelessness in the area. This annual event is part of a nationwide initiative where cities mobilize volunteers to conduct a census of the homeless community.
The CVHPC, via its Facebook page, called for volunteers to participate in this essential initiative. Trained volunteers will hit the streets throughout the day to locate and engage with the homeless population. Armed with a brief survey, these volunteers will not only gather crucial data but also distribute goodwill in the form of parting goodie bags.
"We are less than a week away from our Point-in-Time Count where we take a snapshot of the homeless crisis in San Angelo! We are still looking for volunteers to help conduct the surveys or to provide breakfast or dinner for our volunteers! Please reach out to us if you have any questions!"

"We still need many volunteers to step up! If you would like to help volunteer or provide food for volunteers,"
The Concho Valley Agency urged people on social media to volunteer by signing up on their website at to signup.com/go/fLjZWkM,
The San Angelo Point-in-Time Count is a collaborative effort aimed at understanding the magnitude of the housing crisis in the community. Volunteers have the flexibility to choose from three count times - morning, afternoon, and evening. The agency assures that training and guidance will be provided to volunteers, emphasizing a structured approach to ensure accuracy and sensitivity in gathering information.
Teams will disperse to identified homeless hot spots across the city, such as 14th Street and Bryant, and under the bridge on North Chadbourne conducting surveys and contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the local homeless population. To support the volunteers, food and drinks will be available at the PIT Count Headquarters.
"We need your help to make the San Angelo Point-in-Time Count a success. Join us on Thursday, January 25th, and be a part of the solution," urged the agency in its call for community involvement. Together, the community aims to make a meaningful impact in addressing the housing crisis and supporting those in need.
