City Council Approves Resolution for Affordable Senior Housing

SAN ANGELO, TX - In a unanimous decision, the San Angelo City Council has given its approval for the proposed development of Bergman Heights Senior Affordable Housing.

The resolution, passed during a recent council meeting, shows support for the project located at SEQ Petro Dr. and Ben Ficklin Rd.

Neighborhood and Family Services Director Bob Salas presented the proposal by KCG Bergman Heights, LP, which aims to develop senior affordable housing as part of the 2024 annual Low Income Housing Tax Credit program.

KCG Bergman Heights, LP's plan includes the submission of an application to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs for the 2024 Competitive 9 percent Housing Tax Credits.

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs allocates funds annually for rental construction projects through a competitive process. A resolution of support from the city enhances the project's standing in the state's scoring process.

The city reassures its residents that there will be no impact on the budget, as stated in the agenda packet.

According to the resolution, Bergman Heights will offer 44 units of senior rental housing on Petro Dr.

A timeline unveiled during the meeting indicates that construction is anticipated to conclude by November 2025, benefiting individuals aged 60 or older.
