SAN ANGELO, TX — The ongoing Howard Street construction project is set to enter a brief pause next week, allowing for a temporary respite during the holiday season.
The project, aimed at upgrading utilities along Howard Street, will observe a halt in construction activities from Friday, Dec. 22, through Monday, Jan.1.
Road Closure Details:
- Location: Howard Street from Forest Park Ave to Coleman St.
- Holiday Pause: Friday, Dec. 22, to Monday, Jan. 1.
- Resumption Date: Tuesday, Jan. 2, to Monday, Jan. 8.
- Temporary Reopening: The road will reopen to traffic temporarily at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, and close again on Monday, Jan. 8.
- Completion Date: The utility project is scheduled for completion in spring 2024.
- Weekend Openings: Howard Street will reopen to traffic during weekends.
- New Block Closure: Starting Monday morning, the road will close at a new block. Further block closures will be announced when available.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly..
Additionally, a separate road closure will affect Howard Street from Wilson St to Glenwood Dr, with specific restrictions in place.
During the holiday pause from Friday, Dec. 22, to Monday, Jan. 1, all roads within this section will be open to traffic.
Construction activities are slated to resume on Tuesday, Jan. 2, and are expected to continue until late February.
Second Road Closure Details:
- Location: Howard Street from Wilson St to Glenwood Dr.
- Holiday Pause: Friday, Dec. 22, to Monday, Jan. 1.
- Resumption Date: Starting Tuesday, Jan. 2, with an expected end in late Feb.
- Traffic Restrictions: No through traffic on Greenwood, Stanton, Lakeside, and Glenwood, as well as any alleys in between.
Businesses within the affected road closures are assuredly open, and access to them is being maintained throughout the construction period.
