Salvation Army Needs Donations to Open Homeless Shelter

SAN ANGELO, TX - In a move to address the needs of the homeless community during anticipated freezing weather this weekend, the Salvation Army is set to open its shelter at 122 W. 2nd for the first time in about four years.

As we reported earlier, the Salvation Army closed the shelter in 2019 because of a lack of funding for critical repairs.

The initiative aims to provide a safe place for those without homes, offering refuge from the harsh conditions expected in the upcoming days.

To ensure the well-being and comfort of the individuals seeking shelter, The Salvation Army is urgently seeking community support.

The organization needs essential items such as blankets, pillows, towels, body soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and laundry soap.

Time is of the essence, and The Salvation Army is calling on the community to contribute these items promptly.

Donations can be made by calling 432-266-3971 to coordinate drop-off details.

The urgency of the situation emphasizes the immediate requirement for these supplies to adequately prepare for the imminent opening of the shelter.
