SAN ANGELO, TX — The annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign, a cornerstone event symbolizing the start of the holiday season, will soon commence in San Angelo. This critical fundraiser enables The Salvation Army to deliver impactful services year-round, such as providing food, shelter, emergency financial aid, youth programs, and disaster relief efforts. The San Angelo Salvation Army is seeking volunteers to ring the bells!
Major Alfonso Martinez, commander of The Salvation Army in San Angelo, reflects on the campaign's evolution since its inception in 1891. What began with a single crab pot in San Francisco has now transformed into a global symbol of charity and hope.
"The contributions collected through our Red Kettle Campaign are more than just donations; they are the means through which we offer vital support to those facing hardship," said Major Martinez.
Community members will find Red Kettles located outside local businesses from November through December 24, Monday to Saturday. With last year's contributions reaching $125,000, The Salvation Army is aiming to raise $127,000 this season to further bolster community support.
"The generosity of our community partners and the dedication of our volunteers are the bedrock of our campaign's success," Martinez acknowledged. "Your contributions empower us to bring hope and essential services to individuals and families in need."
