SAN ANGELO – The Busker and Vaughan families recently dedicated a new pavilion at the dog park in San Angelo in honor of the memory of their daughter. David and Trudy Busker contacted the city a couple of years ago and initiated the conversation about creating a pavilion near their home as a way to memorialize the loss of their daughter Terry. Located near the dog park on Millbrook Drive, the pavilion was a labor of love inspired by a similar structure the Buskers saw years ago.
Terry Busker Shirley passed away in 2011 after a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis. According to her mother Trudy, Terry was diagnosed with the debilitating disease shortly after the birth of second child at the age of 29. "She fought a long and courageous battle" says Trudy. "She fought for almost twenty years." After her death, Terry's children have grown and started families of their own, welcoming three babies, including a set of twins, last year. The newest members of the family were in attendance at the dedication ceremony last week.
The Busker family wishes to thank the city of San Angelo for their dedication to this project. "We cannot thank the city enough" says Trudy. "We want to thank Carl White and the recreation department, and all of the other individuals and departments involved in the process for their hard work. If we could convey one message to the community it would be to use and enjoy the pavilion."
If you would like to visit the pavilion, named Terry's Place, visit the dog park at 3215 Millbrook Drive in the College Hills area.
