Annual Memorial Ruck Honors Fallen Goodfellow Airman

GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE – Members of the Goodfellow Air Force Base community honored Airman First Class Elizabeth N. Jacobson Thursday morning through a memorial ruck according to information released by the base.

Jacobson was stationed at Goodfellow and assigned to the 17th Security Forces Squadron from 2003 to 2005.  In 2005, Jacobson, 21, was deployed to Camp Bucca, Iraq.

She was killed on Sep. 28, 2005, 18-years ago, when an improved explosive device struck her convoy.  Airman Jacobson was the first security forces Airman and first female service member to die in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Goodfellow’s South Gate, also known as the ‘Jacobson Gate,’ is named in her honor.

Every year on September 28th, members of the Goodfellow community honor her sacrifice and her legacy through this annual ruck.
