Building Permit Issued for Restrooms at MLK Park

SAN ANGELO, TX – It's official, MLK Park is getting restrooms.

According to the City of San Angelo's Building Permit and Inspection report for July 2023, a $247,787.89 permit was issued to build new restrooms at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park. The park is located on the 2100 block of Martin Luther King Dr.

Led by the local NAACP chapter, this project has been in the works for some time. The restrooms will include men's and women's restrooms with sinks and dryers.

The restrooms were paid for mostly by private donations. However, the City of San Angelo has agreed to maintain and clean the new facility.

Now that the permit is approved, construction can begin. An estimated completion date has not been made public at this time.
