San Angelo Police Confirm Drowning at Lake Nasworthy Sunday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – A 32-year-old man drowned Sunday night while swimming at Mary E. Lee Beach.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, on July 23, 2023, at around 6 p.m., San Angelo Police Officers were dispatched to 2160 Mary E Lee Rd at Mary E. Lee Beach to respond to a report of a drowning victim.

Upon arrival, the victim was found with citizens on the beach already pulling him to shore. CPR was immediately performed, and San Angelo Fire Department paramedics then transported the victim to Shannon Medical Center Downtown.

The 32-year-old unidentified male was pronounced dead at the hospital. SAPD confirmed that the man appeared to be swimming towards a buoy when someone on the beach saw him disappear under the water.

No drugs or alcohol are suspected to be involved in the incident.
