SAN ANGELO, TX – The City of San Angelo has again provided the phone numbers to call about issues with companies installing fiber optic cable in the city. Remember the work being done around town is not by the City of San Angelo so COSA is asking for citizens not to call them with complaints.
The following is a press release from the City of San Angelo:
There’s currently fiber-optic work being done throughout the community in which the City of San Angelo is not involved. Fiber-optic technology provides new options for internet service. There are three companies actively installing fiber in San Angelo.
Crew hours of operation: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Residents may see multiple color lines, which contain fiber-optic cable, being laid in their neighborhoods and in front of their properties during the installation process. Please be aware that the City is not conducting the work and cannot provide information related to the work or damage that is a result of the work.
The areas being worked on are defined as public right of way, or the area on, below or above a public roadway, highway, street, public sidewalk, alley, waterway or utility easement in which the municipality has an interest. This area can include the portions of property adjacent to streets, including areas that many consider private property. Because these companies have a franchise from the State of Texas, they are permitted to install the fiber into the right of way. Right of way policy.
