AUTSIN, TX – Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed a new law banning cities and counties from enacting juvenile curfews in Texas beginning in September.
According to House Bill 1819 that was signed and will go into effect September 1, 2023, cities and counties in the state of Texas will no longer have the right to set a curfew. In the bill it states that it will be illegal “to regulate the movements or actions of persons younger than 18 years of age.”
The bill comes following Governor Greg Abbott fight to keep parents in charge of their kids. As the same with school choice, Abbott believes that parents should be the ones choosing their children's curfew.
In San Angelo there is currently a curfew of 11 p.m. on weekdays and 12:01 a.m. on weekends.
